“Somebody said a recession is when people start losing their jobs, and when your neighbour loses his job. There are job losses, but overall employment is pretty stable,” Mr. Harper said."

Wow I can just feel the compassion and the concern can't you?
Further I get the impression he's hard at work trying to mitigate the impacts of an only 'technical' recession... Stupid thing to say before you launch into an election, stupider thing to say in such a callous and cold way.

Fifteen years later, there are still people who accuse Clinton of lying about the economy in 1992 because technically the recession was over by then. Yep, all compassion.
